2007 Tiny Bates Banquet

On February 12, 2007, the Cal Grid Club of Sacramento filled the Sterling Hotel Grand Ballroom to capacity to celebrate another successful season of Cal Football under Coach Jeff Tedford.

Sacramento Grid Club members were also there to honor the winner of the 2007 Henry J. "Tiny" Bates Memorial Award. Byron Storer, senior fullback from Central Catholic High School in Modesto, was selected by the coaching staff as the winner of this prestigious award, given to the outstanding senior Golden Bear player(s) from the greater Sacramento area.

After Cal Deputy Athletic Director, Steve Holton, addressed questions about the upcoming Memorial Stadium renovation project, Coach Tedford took the stage to present the Bates Award to Byron Storer. Coach Tedford then spoke about the upcoming season, as well as the 2007 recruiting class. He concluded the evening by answering questions from the capacity crowd.

Sacramento Grid Club members left the ballroom excited about the 2007 football season and next year's banquet. Information about the 2008 Tiny Bates Banquet can be accessed by clicking here.
